Milton Glaser’s ubiquitous I Heart NY logo inspired these variations.
When we wrote about Milton Glaser's I Heart NY logo being updated by the State of New York it made us think about some of the variations inspired by the original design:
I Heart Huckabees
You may love or hate this movie. (It's one of the movies that trips up Netflix when it tabulates best and worst movie lists because it is loved and hated with such passion.) It's one of the many cases where the name is clearly modeled on I heart NY.
I LIKE NY
This parody of I Heart NY uses the Facebook "Like" symbol in a campaign that social media agency vitruelove.com put together for a tribute in Adweek. Steven Shapley of Minnesota suggested that the "Like" symbol was a good example of a visual verb.
Oranges Heart the Big Apple
This Tropicana OJ campaign features the "Orange" in the "Heart" position. Maybe I'm a bit dyslectic, but I see this as "NY Loves Jersey." But we know that's not always true.
I Heart Sally Fields
You really, really love me! This variation by our own Jim Keller shows how hearty the love for NY can really be. Jim made the exclamation point into a heart of its own.
I Heart Robert Indiana
The only love more copied perhaps than Milton's Glaser's heart would be Robert Indiana's iconic letterforms. Also thanks to Jim Keller for creating the homage.
